alkon, always having as its guiding principle the production of products that meet the requirements of its customers, respect for people and the environment, recognising the need to develop and adopt environmentally friendly production processes and aiming for balanced economic growth in harmony with nature, has decided to establish and operate an Environmental Management System in accordance with the requirements of the ELOT EN ISO 14001:2015 Standard. Following a path of sustainable development, the company strives to combine the continuous quality improvement of its products with the prudent and rational use of natural resources and the minimisation of the negative environmental impacts of its activities.

Based on the above Principles, the Company operates in all its activities with absolute Responsibility and respect for the Environment and Society, within the framework of the Circular Economy, and provides all the necessary resources in order to:

  • implement an Environmental Management System in accordance with the international ISO 14001:2015 standard
  • always operate in compliance with the applicable environmental legislation at national and European level, as well as with the approved environmental conditions of the facility, and comply with all relevant environmental emission limits
  • operate responsibly, having full knowledge of the environmental aspects and impacts of its activities, assessing environmental and production process risks and opportunities, and creating mechanisms for monitoring environmental aspects
  • set objectives for the company’s Environmental Management System, as well as targets for the continuous improvement of environmental performance and the minimisation of its environmental footprint, whenever possible
  • train its personnel so that they actively participate in environmental management issues and understand the company’s objectives
  • cooperate exclusively with providers and partners who hold the appropriate licences for the management of generated waste, prioritising compatible treatment methods in accordance with the principles of the circular economy
  • ensure the separate collection and storage of all hazardous and non-hazardous waste in dedicated areas and with appropriate labelling, taking all preventive measures to ensure adequate protection of the environment
  • take all necessary preventive measures to ensure environmental protection during the storage of substances and materials (fuels, lubricants, waste, etc.)
  • regularly conduct self-assessment audits of environmental performance in accordance with internal procedures
  • operate with transparency and participate in open dialogue and consultation on environmental issues with all interested parties.

Through this policy, the company commits to:

  • the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System in order to enhance environmental performance, and
  • the fulfilment of its compliance obligations.
